How To Claim And Setup Your Bing Local Business Listing

Last updated 2 years ago

Bing has been slowly capturing market share and local businesses are taking notice. Bing's release of the Bing Business Portal is a new service to help business owners register their business and control their presence online.

Since registering with Bing Business Portal is free, it’s a no-brainer for businesses to claim their listing and enhance their business profile online. Once claimed, business owners can control their listing, adding such information like logos, photos, business hours, accepted forms of payment, parking availability, social media links and more.

After you get the Bing Business Portal postcard, you will need to follow these steps:

1.) Login to the Bing Business Portal at www.bingbusinessportal.com.

If you login, then you must see the screen , along your own current listing(s) –both unverified and verified.

If the listing that needs still to be verified, so then Bing will give you the button for this purpose.

2.) Press the “Verify” button.

If you press the button ‘Verify’, then you will be sent at the business management listing tool. This problem does not directly send you to the Verification tab. This will take you into the main in Name/Address/Phone tab.

Unless the Bing will fix this poor usability issue, then you will have to press one more time –looking for the ‘Verification’ tab at the right upper area.

3.)  Press this tab Verification

When you have finished pressing, then you must end up in the page which permits you to enter the PIN number along your postcard.

Then you are done! This will even take about one week for the update to be able to processed and live in the business listing in Bing.  The Maps, however your mileage must vary.

4.)  Creating Your Mobile Site and Qr Code

Now for the interesting part – Bing has a designer tool that allows you to create a little mobile website for your business. It has features to change colors, highlight your products, map and call buttons. It even gives you the URL to your mobile site. You can also create a QR code that you can display on your Window Sticker or other offline advertisements. A person with a smartphone can use a QR code reader to scan this code and be taken instantly to your mobile website on Bing complete with map and directions.

Claiming and completing this profile is very important to your local search rankings, even in Google. Having more authoritative “citations” of your business helps with your rankings. And now that Bing powers Yahoo search, Bing represents over 25% of the search traffic.

Be patient – your listing won’t immediately show up in search results. Make sure you fill out your listing as completely as possible. Another tip, make sure you use the same exact name address and phone number as you do with your Google
